Manchester Mencap
Who We Are
Manchester Mencap is an organisation representing the rights and interests of people with learning disabilities and their carers.
How We Started

In 1974 there was a group of parents of people with learning disabilities in Manchester who were worried that there weren’t good enough services for their sons and daughters.
These parents started Manchester Mencap to try and improve the services available in Manchester.
From working with only a few families in 1974, Manchester Mencap has grown a lot. We now work with more than 300 families. We give free membership to anyone with learning disabilities who lives in the Manchester area.
